A Reader in Accounting and Finance at Newcastle University Business School (NUBS), holding a PhD. from Lancaster University. The acting Ethics Convenor for the Business School. A Chair of Boardof Studies for the A&F group. Secured an ESRC Impact Acceleration Grant for £10,000 in 2016. A peer reviewer for; the Global Challenges Research Fund, ESRC and Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). Engagingwith a number of industry partners (i.e. in impact projects, research publications and joint PhD supervision). A member of Newcastle University Climate and Environmental Resilience NUCoRE and Lead Investigator for the FinTech Steering Group for the “Centre of Research Excellence for Cyber Security and Resilience”. A member of the NUBS Steering Committee for The Future of Work and Social Justice in Digital Economy. An Associate Editor for the International Journal of Finance and Economics (ABS 3*) and also for the Emerging Market Review Journal (ABS 2*). An Editorial Board Member in the peer-reviewed International Journal of Accounting and others highly ranked journals. A referee in a number of ABS listed 3*& 4* peer-journals specialised in accounting, finance and banking. Received the NUBS Schools Award (2022) for Outstanding Researcher of Year (Established Career) and Shortlisted for the Vice Chancellor Newcastle University Impact Award (Established Career Award) for 2022. Featured in the Top 500 List of the Most Influential Women in Islamic Business and Finance (known as WOMANi 500) for 2021. Received a research prize for “outstanding reviewer” in the Journal of Economic Behaviour and Organization for 2015. Published 20 refereed academic papers with 12 papers during 2020-2021. All academic outputs are stated to be internationally recognized for originality, significance and rigour (with high citations) and some outputs are listed as multi-disciplinary.

Research interests cover corporate governance, banking, Financial Technology (FinTech) and carbon accounting. All publications are listed on the top 25 downloadable papers, as reported by Science Direct. Ranked in the top 10% of Authors on SSRN by total new downloads within the last 12 months while recent publications in 2021 are among Top 8 citations/downloads in the Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money.
