ASEAN Energy Sustainability Best Practices

Session Theme 3 of COPE-BEST 2022

Energy is the major contributor to GHG emissions. Hence energy efficiency and renewable energy are important measures to achieve sustainable development and net zero GHG emissions. Implementing energy efficiency measures will reduce energy demand, whereas renewable energy will contribute to zero GHG emissions during the utilisation stage. Section 3 of COPE-BEST 2022 presents the energy efficiency and renewable energy best practices for industry and building community.

QA/QC and R&D Manager, IOI Edible Oils Sdn Bhd, Malaysia Sustainability in Palm Oil Processing Industry
ChM. Yung Yen Li, is a Professional Chemist, registered under Malaysian Institute of Chemistry. She works as a Quality Assurance and Quality Control Manager of IOI Edible Oils Sdn. Bhd. She also leads the R&D team for product development and process improvement in line with food safety concern. She has published research articles related with food contaminations and sustainable practices in edible oil industry.
Director, Centre for Smart Environment (CENSEi) - Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM)
Musthafah Mohd Tahir is an Associate Professor in Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM). Bachelor of Engineering degree from Electro Communication University, Tokyo in 1991. Master of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1997 and PhD degree in Energy and Environmental Science in 2010, both from Nagaoka University of Technology. He is currently the Director at Centre for Smart Environment (CENSEi), UTeM. A Registered Electrical Energy Manager of Malaysia Energy Commission since 2017 and an AEMAS (ASEAN Energy Management Scheme) Certified Assessor. He have been a member in UTeM Energy Management Committee since 2015.His other research interest includes engine performance, heat transfer, energy management, battery charging and renewable energy.

Rizal Rahman is currently Custodian Process Design Engineer and has been with PETRONAS for 20 years since his graduation.
