Green Financing and Carbon Market

Session Theme 6 of COPE-BEST 2022

Initiatives such as Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) and Domestic Emission Trading Scheme (DETS) are among vital mechanisms to enable a country achieve a low-carbon economy and work towards the goal of carbon-neutrality by allowing organisations to further reduce GHG emissions through carbon offsetting and carbon trading.  Session 6 provides key highlights on innovative international and local schemes and incentives for Climate Financing such as Green Technology Financing Scheme (GTFS) and Green Sukuk under Malaysia Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC).  Examples of mechanisms created to stimulate the Carbon Market such as the VCM and DETS that involve voluntary carbon credit trading shall be shared by Bursa Malaysia.
