Nah-Yoon Shin

Nah-yoon is Private Sector Specialist of the WBG’s Finance, Competitiveness and Innovation Global Practice. She is the lead author of Circular Economy in Industrial Parks: Technologies for Competitiveness (2021), and Resilient Industries: Competitiveness in Face of Disasters (2020). She was also one of the main contributing authors to A Practitioner’s Handbook for Eco- Industrial Parks (2018) jointly published by the WBG, UNIDO and GIZ. Nah-yoon has more than 10 years of research and operational experience in the area of sustainable and resilient urban industrial development. With the Green Competitiveness Team at the World Bank, she provides support to client countries including Bangladesh, China, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam to enhance competitiveness of their manufacturing industries through eco-industrial park projects, circular economy solutions, and measures to improve industrial resilience. Originally from the Republic of Korea, Nah-yoon has a Master of Science in Urban Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.). Before joining the Bank, she worked as a researcher at MIT on the Clean Energy City project in China and at Korea Environment Institute where she supported the Korean Ministry of Environment to implement the Seoul Initiative Network on Green Growth jointly with the UNESCAP.

Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Sharifah Rafidah Wan Alwi is a Professor in the School of Chemical and Energy Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. She is an expert resource minimisation consultant for multiple industries and is among the leading researchers in resource integration technique development. Prof Sharifah is also the co-founder and Director of Optimal Systems Engineering Sdn Bhd, a UTM Spin-off company.

I, Faizal Mohd Yusof, 53, am a civil servant and very proud to be one, a leader who is inspired by great leaders, a sporting and committed team player, a husband to one wife, a father blessed with 4 children and an avid gardener. I graduated with LLB (Hons) from the University of Northumbria, New Castle Upon Tyne in 1993 and after short stints in a few establishments, I joined the Civil Service in January 1996. My first and only posting was to the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI). My 1st task was as an Assistant Director of the Machinery and Equipment desk, Industry Development Division. I left MITI to undergo the Diploma in Public Administration in 1998 and upon completion of the course, I was re-posted to MITI, joining the Automotive Unit, under the same Division. Since then, I have served in various Units under Industry Development Divisions, Restructuring of Companies and Industry Services. I was the recipient for the Ministry’s Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang twice, in 2002 and 2008. Commencing May 2018 until now, I have been assigned as the Senior Director of the Investment Policy and Trade Facilitation Division (ITFD or Division).

Musthafah Mohd Tahir is an Associate Professor in Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM). Bachelor of Engineering degree from Electro Communication University, Tokyo in 1991. Master of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1997 and PhD degree in Energy and Environmental Science in 2010, both from Nagaoka University of Technology. He is currently the Director at Centre for Smart Environment (CENSEi), UTeM. A Registered Electrical Energy Manager of Malaysia Energy Commission since 2017 and an AEMAS (ASEAN Energy Management Scheme) Certified Assessor. He have been a member in UTeM Energy Management Committee since 2015.His other research interest includes engine performance, heat transfer, energy management, battery charging and renewable energy.
